Public Statement
Public Statement
Southern Democratic Assembly (TAJ) The Southern Democratic Assembly (TAJ) would like to take this opportunity to salute all southerners for their courageous resistance against the North Yemen’s occupation and for striving against the repression of the military-tribal occupation led by the Marshal, Dictator Ali Abdullah Saleh. TAJ assures all southern people that it sticks to its main principle declared in day one and will not relax or give up till it ends the occupation and regain full independence of the South. TAJ watches anxiously the political activities on the Yemeni political arena with particular attention to the occupied South and fully realizes the extent of the crisis that the dictatorship regime is facing. This has become apparent from the numerous salvation projects prepared by many volunteers inside and outside the country. Amidst these increasing discussions about the projects, programmes and exit strategies prepared for the troubled government in Sana'a, TAJ declares to all of the concerned people about the Yemeni deteriorated situation especially in the occupied South the following: 1-What is presently taking place in the south is a backward tribal military occupation looting the wealth of the nation and confiscates the private and public lands and distributes the gains between the rulers, their sons and their intimates. 2-What has been declared here and there about the presidential election is an absurd and farcical show, therefore TAJ urges our people in the South not to participate in the forthcoming election whatsoever. . 3- TAJ declares its firm support to the movement of reform of the reunification path that has recently been created within the Yemeni Socialist Party. TAJ fully supports the movement's stance which aims to resolve all Southerner's issues and stands by its rejection to surrender to the occupiers that the new ******ship of the Yemeni Socialist Party is intending to do. 4-TAJ appeals to all the Southern political ******ships abroad to take firm stance from the occupying authority and to refrain from the flirtation of President Ali Abdullah Saleh at the expense of Southern people. 5- TAJ urges all the Southern ******ships to condemn what is happening in our occupied land because if the politics of flirtation, delays and elusion continue it will only prolongs the occupation and worsen the repression, hardship and suffering of our people in the South. 6- TAJ reiterates its call to convene a general national conference for all Southern political organisations (without any exception) in order to create a joint vision that would determine the future of the South and address the existing political, economic and social problems. 7- TAJ strongly condemns the brutal practices of the officers of the military occupying forces against the southern solders and calls upon all Human Rights Organisations inside and outside the country to denounce the inhumane, vicious and degrading acts against Southern solders. Bearing in mind these practices are taken place with the full support of the ******ship of the regime in Sana’a. 8- TAJ declares that the blunders of the Southerner’s national wealth and the selling of public institutions such as the Harbour and the Airport of Aden as well as the selling of cement’s manufactures in Hadramout and Abyan governorates are wrong practices. Furthermore, the continuous looting of Oil, Gas and fishing industry by paper companies which are pirate companies aiming to create private wealth from the Southerners national resources under the slogan of investments. Therefore TAJ advices all companies that have signed or going to sign contracts with the ******ship of the military occupation not to do so because it is unlawful practice against the will of Southern people. It is important to understand that TAJ will not accept any such agreement signed with the Yemeni occupiers. 9- TAJ calls upon all Arabic and International media to report on the brutal, repressive and barbaric acts such as killings, tortures, and imprisonment without trial, discrimination and intimidation by the backward tribal-military Northern occupation against the people of the South. Bearing in mind the situation is getting worse and the scale of repression is getting harsher too. Consequently, basic services are disappearing, poverty, ill health, and unemployment are increasing and the people have no one to turn to apart from the international community of which the media only can attract their attention. In this statement the Southern Democratic Assembly (TAJ) addresses all Southerners and those people abroad and inside the country who are concerned about the situation in the occupied South. TAJ assures everyone that it remains confident in the people of the South and that it will continue its legitimate struggle for independence using peaceful but firm measures to end the Northern Tribal-military occupation. TAJ salutes all courageous Southerners for their unchangeable stance and patience to bear with the oppression of the regime and their determination to liberate and build their homeland of the South, from the Eastern boarder with Oman to the boarder of the Island of Mayoon in the West. Issued by the Southern Democratic Assembly TAJ London-UK April 2006
